  • Maintain strong relationships with equipment suppliers to minimize lead times and stay at the forefront of new technologies

Services

Optimum EPC’s core projects are in the utility scale solar and storage sector. We also deliver projects for: fuel cell (gas to electricity), microgrid infrastructure, and distributed energy projects. Our services include:

Value Engineering

Value engineering involves optimizing the design, components, and processes of solar energy systems to maximize efficiency and cost-effectiveness, ensuring the highest value for investment. We work with our clients throughout the bid, design, and construction phases on items like equipment selection, project sequencing, and construction methods to balance performance, reliability, and affordability in solar projects.

construction management

Construction management encompasses overseeing the physical implementation of a solar energy project and coordinating tasks such as site preparation, equipment installation, quality control, and safety & environmental compliance to ensure timely and efficient project execution. Effective solar construction management ensures that the project design and engineering plans are translated into a functional and reliable solar energy system while adhering to industry standards and best practices. We work with the best subcontractors in the industry who share our passion for safety, quality, and efficiency. This allows the client’s vision and goals to resonate at each level of the project team.

Project Development

Project development encompasses the entire lifecycle of creating a solar energy installation, from initial site assessment and feasibility studies to permitting, engineering, construction, and grid connection. This process involves careful planning, stakeholder engagement, and technological integration to bring clean and sustainable solar power to fruition. Through our connections with groups like Maine Community Solar, we are constantly receiving leads from landowners interested in hosting a utility-scale solar project. We strive to pair landowners with our developer clients to kickstart projects and are capable of facilitating every phase of the project development process along the way.

Interconnection

Interconnection refers to the process of connecting a solar energy system to the electric grid, enabling the generated solar power to be integrated and supplied to the broader energy network. This involves technical assessments, regulatory compliance, and coordination with utility companies to ensure smooth and secure two-way power flow between the solar installation and the grid. Through our strong relationships with many of the region’s major utilities, Optimum EPC can streamline the interconnection process for our clients. We achieve this through technical interpretation of system impact studies, working closely with interconnection groups to minimize change risk, and driving the performance of utility-owned construction scope.

Financial Modeling

Project financial modeling involves creating comprehensive financial projections that assess the economic viability of a solar energy initiative, factoring in costs, revenues, incentives, and various financial metrics. There are many lucrative financial mechanisms and incentives to assess for renewable energy projects, and they can often be difficult or confusing to interpret. The recent introduction of the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) Investment Tax Credit (ITC) presents an additional layer of opportunity and complexity. Optimum EPC specializes in navigating the ITC for its clients. We provide overall policy guidance and individual project compliance to aid investors, developers, and stakeholders in making informed decisions by evaluating potential risks, returns, and payback periods associated with the solar project.

Testing & Commissioning

Testing and commissioning involves a series of rigorous evaluations and checks performed on a newly constructed solar energy system to ensure its proper functionality, safety, and compliance with industry standards. This process includes performance testing, equipment verification, and system optimization to guarantee that the solar installation operates efficiently and reliably after its completion. Our services don’t stop with project development and the EPC phase. We coordinate with the interconnecting utility on all witness testing, as well as test & commission all major equipment prior to client turnover. Our clients can rest assured that once the system is energized, it will be fully operational without any surprises.
